With knives, tweezers and surgical tools, Brian Dettmer size of a page at a time. Nothing inside the out-of-date from, medical journals, picture books, dictionaries or relocated or implanted, only removed.

Dettmer manipulate the pages and bones to form the shape of his sculptures. He also folds, bends, coils and multiple stacks to create sculptural forms completely original.

"My work is a collaboration with the existing and past creators and new relationships excolocar completed parts of the internal elements of the book is exactly where it has been since its original conception," he says.

"The richness and depth of the book is universally respected, but often undiscovered as the monopoly of the form and relevance of the information that fades with time. Intended function of the book has been reduced and the form is still linear non-linear world. altering physical forms of information and the displacement of preconceived roles, new and unexpected roles arise. "

Dettmer is a native of Chicago, where he studied at Columbia University. He currently lives and works in Atlanta, GA.
