summary
SYNOPSIS
This account of Echeverria, in which irony is used for social criticism and a political denunciation of Rosas and the federal system, attempts to describe the general from the particular. Thus, from the slaughterhouse, the author describes the Federation and Corn.
The characters are described in two opposing groups: unitary and federal. The federal party members, whose leader was Rosas, are portrayed as cruel and brutal people, barbarians and thugs, establishing federal analogy between the characters and animals such as vultures, wolves and tigers, with a taste for blood, predatory behavior and domination by terror and violence. Instead, the unit with which you identify the narrator, are portrayed as educated people who love the lights, civilized. A comparison between the figure of the bull, which resists to the end, and the young unit that explodes with rage before being humiliated.
EcheverrÃa also describes other social figures of the era, as the Americans and the mob. Foreigners are often described with scorn, which suggests something of contempt by the author. The people described him as uneducated and hungry. The characters of the people, as black achureras and boys who are trained in handling the knife, are described as being vulgar and easily manipulated, so easily conform to the designs of the Restorer or the mandates of the church, and quickly forgotten facts, as with the slain boy
