"The Bible and boiler" is a phrase immortalized by Santos Discépolo in his tango "Cambalache" (... see mourn the Bible / near a water heater).
In the early twentieth century, in Spain and in several American countries (including ours) the Bible was distributed free. After a while he knew there were people who had the book with a wire hanging beneath the water heater (which at that time could be in the bathroom) and used the leaves ... toilet paper.
From there was born the phrase "see mourn the Bible next to water heater" that the author tries to say that the Bible is crying for the fate that end up having.
