Biography

In 1966 he began working as an interior designer. Starting in 1968, Giger was devoted exclusively to art and his early posters were published by 1969. During that time had an affair with Li Tober, with which record several times. The suicide of his lover in 1975 marked forever the work of Giger.

Known among the general public to design and develop with Carlo Rambaldi creature and some scenes of the movie Alien, the eighth passenger Ridley Scott (1979, based on his own earlier works as "Necronomicon V" for which he was awarded in 1980 the Oscar for best set design. It also participates in the aesthetics of other films such as Species (Roger Donaldson, 1995) work being used on the covers of many books and records. He has also done work for games like Dark Seed , an adventure game of Lovecraftian atmosphere. then volunteered as a designer of Alien 3 because James Cameron, reuse of their work for Aliens. also participated in the design of the dark side of Poltergeist II, being quite disappointed the treatment he gave in the movie to your designs.
There is a museum dedicated to HR Giger in the city of Gruyères, Fribourg, Switzerland.
