In recent times, the omnipresent and almighty Google has been the odd disappointment in what was thought to be revolutionary release (Wave, Buzz ...) but it is possible that with the release earlier today of their digital book store the thing change . For now been changed to the name that was known until this project, which was Editions.

Called eBooks and would be set to revolutionize the electronic book market as Apple iTunes Store and they did with the music market. With over three million titles in its catalog are just giants Apple and Amazon against which Google intends to compete and exceed.

The platform is open, and from your home page we can see that there are four modes or e-book formats ready for four formats: Android, iPhone / iPod / iPad, Nook / Sony and read through a web browser. In this project, Google is a technology partner that provides the platform (in exchange for money, obviously) to the editors of the books themselves to be the ones setting the prices of both works that are sold on eBooks as if these include some kind of system DRM copy protection and method of payment.

An interesting feature is that the user does not need to download the files of the books but they can stay "in the cloud" so as to be accessible from any device. We can purchase the ebook from the work computer, start reading on the way home on the bus with our mobile, go on the laptop at home and when we give away this Christmas an IPAD or an electronic book reader (or both) as we were there, although it will continue reading from another device.

In the United States has stepped Ebooks about 300,000 electronic books available for purchase and more than 3 million public domain books scanned and available for free. Next year should begin to operate the distribution of books in Spanish, a market with more than 400 million potential users natives.
