million U.S. dollars
U.S. Internet giant Google said Tuesday it had concluded a mutual agreement with the Association of American Publishers (AAP) and the Authors Guild, by the payment of $ 125 million.
The dispute related to Google's project to scan millions of books in order to render them searchable online.
The agreement, which must be confirmed by the justice, provides that the company will fund a "repertoire" of copyright and which shall bear the legal costs of a class action brought by authors and publishers.
"The agreement acknowledges the rights and interests of authors, provides an efficient means to control how they are accessed online and enables them to receive compensation for online access to their jobs," the joint statement Google, the association of authors and publishers.
