Roberto Sosa (Yoro, Honduras, April 18, 1930) is a Honduran poet, considered one of the most prestige at home.
Biography
He studied Master of Arts at the University of Cincinnati (Ohio), has been director of literary journals and art galleries, was a professor of literature and writer based in Upper Montclair College ([New Jersey]]), working with major newspapers and magazines in Honduras and other Central American countries. His poetry has been favorably commented on in Spain, Cuba, Colombia and Mexico.
In 1968 receives the Adonais Prize for Poetry (Spain), for his book The poor (Editorial Rialp), becoming thus the first Latin American to get this award. In 1971 his book A divided world for all, became entitled to the Casa de las Americas Prize, with a jury of notable authors such as Gonzalo Rojas and Eliseo Diego. In 1990 the French government granted the rank of Knight in the Order of Arts and Letters.
