Sony S1 and S2

The Japanese company in Tokyo, Sony introduced two digital multimedia tablet called S1 and S2, the second equipped with two screens, to compete with the U.S. Apple iPad, a leader in that market, and the latest additions to Blackberry.

The two tablets will work with the processing system and Google Android 3.0 will be marketed starting this autumn in Europe and the United States and half of the year in Latin America.

Sony teams will have an online content service "accessible quickly to purchase and download video, music and other entertainment," said an official of Sony, Kunimasa Suzuki, in a press conference.

The S1 model has a screen about 10 inches (about 25 centimeters) diagonally, two cameras, 1280 x 800 pixel resolution, access to Wi-Fi network and features a folding design level as a folded page but rigid air gives it a magazine.

The S2, which folds in half and can be stored in a pocket, is larger than a "smartphone", but smaller than an iPad. It has two 5.5-inch touch screens each (1024 × 480).

"The S2 is particularly relevant to the numerical reading books whose content is displayed on screen as two pages," Suzuki said while adding that both are compatible with the PlayStation platform games.
