Bernard Marx, an Alpha has developed a rebellious attitude being rejected socially by not taking soma and be lower than the other Alfas (for an alleged failure during gestation), goes with Lenina Crowne to visit a nature reserve of Malpais, which people do not follow the process of eugenic selection and conditioning. In that group of "savages" know John, a child conceived naturally by a woman "civilized" that was lost in that region, so the young woman has also been rejected by those around him.
