Majul sales tripled Dan Brown
His book is already on record Nestor Kirchner
Less than two weeks of the launch of the owner, the last book of Luis Majul, several city bookstores decided to take the promotional poster for the window because "it is agotadÃsimo" and expect that between today and tomorrow comes the new edition.
With a first printing of 20,000 copies, the owner-an investigative report about former President Nestor Kirchner, was record sales since its release. In seven days, sales tripled from a tank in the world as the symbol lost last creation of Dan Brown, author of The Da Vinci Code.
Now he prepares to leave a new edition of 30,000 copies and it is estimated that on Monday there will be another edition of 20,000 more.
In the window of the library of the Galerias Pacifico Peak is not the top of the owner. There stock was completed in 10 days. "It sold like crazy," he said Dario Demarco, manager of the place. "We had to take the promotional poster because there are no books. Supposedly between Thursday and Friday will come more. We're waiting," he said, and stressed that "when it came out that had quadrupled sales of Dan Brown's book in a week" .
Wholesale Shopping
In a tour, THE NATION found that in many places the book is exhausted. Only in a local editorial Losada on Avenida Corrientes are 15 copies.
"8 days ago brought the first 100 and I ask for more. People obviously like to read about the hidden issues of power," said Sebastian, one of the employees.
In the Ateneo Grand Splendid, Santa Fe and Callao, had until recent days, a stack of over a meter with Majul books with best sellers such as After dark, by Stephen King, and the island under the sea, Isabel Allende. Yesterday, the place was empty, awaiting new copies. "We brought 300 and the application does not stop," said Fernando Cuevas, a local employee.
Beyond public acceptance, both as the publisher Metro Majul reported that this week there were bulk purchases at various locations in order, they said, "out of circulation." To Makhoul, the government is buying copies of the text out of the windows.
For its part, the editorial director of Metro Group, Ignacio Iraola, said: "We can not tell who is the person who purchased large quantities of books. What I say is that we have recorded several purchases of 70 copies each."
Iraola confirmed that several libraries (who declined to be identified) from Florida Street and at least one in the neighborhood of Belgrano there have been wholesale.
"Why not make a purchase that big. If it is for business gifts, that is handled directly with the publisher, which gives them almost a 30 percent discount," Iraola said. "I do not think innocent people are shopping, may be the ruling or opposition, but there there," he said.
