Project moves to ban the sale of sweets in the Buenos Aires school breaks.

Luis Bruni radical, the project seeks to ban the sale of sweets in the recesses of public schools in the Greater Buenos Aires yesterday won initial approval in the Chamber of Deputies of Buenos Aires. The measure seeks to remove from the diet of children and adolescents foods that have no nutritional values ​​necessary for good health.

"There is a need for action to combat obesity in order to generate strategies and awareness of the many diseases that can cause the disease in adolescents," the radical legislator.

The draft also prohibits the marketing of products which include figurines, stickers, toys and other incentives aimed at encouraging the consumption of such foods.

As explained by the deputy, the objective is to promote "good eating" as the consumption of fruits, vegetables and dairy products "as essential components of a balanced and healthy daily diet."

It also aims to train teachers in all matters relating to obesity and establish a day for medical schools to explain the multiple consequences caused by being overweight.

The bill that won preliminary approval last night aims to develop awareness campaigns on obesity, especially aimed at children and adolescents by promoting healthy diets and discourage consumption of soft drinks, juices and sugary snack or low nutritional intake.
