Al Azif / Necronomicon
The Necronomicon is a grimoire (fictional magic book) created by Howard Phillips Lovecraft. According to this work, the book was written under the title Al-Azif Kitahara (Arabic: "the sound of insects per night," rumor in Arabic folklore attributed to demons as djins and gules) circa 738 AD by the Arab poet Abdul Al-Hazred (whose original name may have been Abdala Zahr-ad-Din, or God-Servant-Flor-de-la-Fe), Sana (Yemen). Alhazred is said dead in broad daylight devoured by an unseen beast in front of numerous witnesses, or was swept away by a whirlwind into heaven.
Lovecraft is full of data to make plausible the existence of the book. For example cited as one of its compilers to Ibn Khallikan, Iranian or Arab scholar who really existed.
Also note that by 950, was translated into Greek by Theodorus Philetas and adopted the current title Greek Necronomicon. and began to spread rapidly among philosophers and scientists of the Middle Ages. However, the horrific events that occurred around it made the Catholic Church condemned him in 1050. In 1228 Olaus Wormius translated the book into Latin, which is the most famous, because (again according to the Lovecraftian fiction) there are still some copies of it, while Arabic and Greek originals are lost).
