The Fall of the House of Usher was considered one of the most important stories of Poe's narrative production, and was first published in the journal Burton's Gentleman's Magazine, in 1839. Plot: A young gentleman is invited to the mansion of his old boyhood friend, Roderick Usher, who is sick and completely eccentric and secluded lives with his sister. Usher live prey to an indefinable disease, which makes everyone fear for their lives but that is just dying sister. His body is placed in a crypt, but they soon terrible events occur that will lead to a tragic end. Biography: Edgar Allan Poe was born in Boston, USA, January 19, 1809. His parents died when he child, and was raised by John Allan, a wealthy businessman. Allan raised the child, but never formally adopted [. After six years he traveled with the Allan family to England where he entered a private boarding school. After returning to America in 1820 he continued studying in private schools and attended the University of Virginia for one year.

In 1827 he published his first book, Tamerlane and Other Poems. Shortly after he enlisted in the army, staying for a period of two years. In 1829 he published his second book of poems. The following year he published his third book, Poems (1831), moved to Baltimore, where he lived with his aunt and a niece of 11 years. In 1832, his story "Manuscript Found in a Bottle" won a contest sponsored by the Baltimore Saturday Visitor. In 1836 he married his young niece and during the next decade, Poe worked as an editor for several magazines in Philadelphia and New York. In 1847 his wife died and it marked him causing him to fall ill, his addiction to alcohol and drugs led him to his early death on October 7, 1849.
