Joan Fontcuberta (Barcelona, 1955) is a photographer, critic and teacher. In addition to his prolific photographic work, has done important work as an essayist, editor and curator, with initiatives like the foundation in 1980 Photovision magazine, co-founding in 1982 of the Primavera Fotográfica in Barcelona and the art direction in 1996 International Festival of Photography in Arles. He has also taught in different institutions and European and American universities and currently teaches in Audiovisual Communication studies at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona.
